A world champion will kick off the action on Saturday as Hannah Scott starts her heats for Team GB in the quadruple sculls (11:50).

Also on the water on the opening day is Banbridge's Philip Doyle alongside Team Ireland team-mate Daire Lynch in the men's double sculls (10:30).

Day one will also see the double world champion Rhys McClenaghan in action as he commences his hunt for Olympic glory in the qualification round of the pommel horse in the evening session (19:00).

In the swimming pool, we should see 16 year old Grace Davison from Bangor for Team Ireland in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay heats (11:15) with final also take place on the opening day.

After being in action prior to the opening ceremony, the Ireland men's Rugby Sevens team are out of medal contention but face the USA (14:00) in a game to determine their final position

Both Team GB - captained by David Ames - and Ireland kick off their hockey group stage matches. GB face Spain (09:00) with Ireland up against Belgium (09:30).

It's also the opening day of the equestrian, with Susie Berry in action in the eventing dressage for Team Ireland (from 08:30).
